Dubai is launching smart traffic lights powered by AI to predict future congestion. The project will be completed by 2026, improving travel efficiency across the city.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced that the city’s traffic lights will soon be upgraded with an advanced AI-powered system capable of predicting future traffic conditions. Using the UTC-UX Fusion technology, signals will be optimized across major intersections, making journeys faster and easier. The project, expected to be completed by mid-2026, will also utilize a digital twin system, allowing simulations of traffic signal adjustments before applying them in real life.

At the same time, major infrastructure projects are underway, such as the AED 798 million Al Qudra Street expansion, which includes new bridges reducing travel time from 9.4 minutes to just 2.8 minutes. Additionally, the upcoming 17-kilometer underground “Dubai Loop,” announced for 2025 in collaboration with Elon Musk, will have the capacity to transport over 20,000 passengers per hour.
